The Maricopa County Department of Public Health is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Internal Communications & Engagement Intern to support communications for an 800+ person workforce of clinical and administrative professionals.
This 9-week, hybrid summer internship offers hands-on experience in internal communications, with opportunities to create content, support large-scale staff meetings, and learn how communication strategies engage employees across a public health organization.
What You’ll Do:
• Develop and distribute weekly internal newsletters and occasional all-staff emails
• Create and publish content on the department’s SharePoint intranet
• Support planning and preparation of bi-monthly all-staff meetings, including slide deck development for audiences of 400+ employees
• Assist in maintaining and updating internal communication processes and documentation
• Track and report on communication performance metrics (training provided)

What We’re Looking For:

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office; experience with tools like Canva or email platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact) is a plus
• Interest in marketing and communications for an internal (employee-focused) audience
• Basic visual design sense and willingness to learn new tools

Schedule & Requirements:
• 9-week summer internship, minimum 10 hours per week
• Hybrid schedule: in-office 1–2 days per week (Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays), remainder remote
• Must have access to a personal laptop
