This position involves conducting a review of existing research and surveillance reports on heat-related illness and heat-related deaths in the United States. This will entail examining peer-reviewed literature, government reports, and surveillance data to establish an understanding of the topic and identify gaps in surveillance and research. In addition to the literature review, the role includes analyzing trends in heat-related illness severity across demographic factors, including age, sex, race, and month of the year. This analysis will help identify patterns in vulnerability, outcomes, and potentially offer insights into when and for whom interventions may be most needed. The final component of the position will be to develop an executive summary of the findings from both the literature review and data analysis. This summary will synthesize information into key takeaways and recommendations, supporting evidence-based public health strategies to prevent heat-related illness and deaths.
