Join our Public Health Liaisons team to connect with community coalitions and strengthen public health networks. You’ll gain hands-on experience in community engagement, information management, and applied data analysis while contributing to a coalition matrix that guides opioid settlement funding and partnership planning across Maricopa County.
Driving is required for this position.
This internship offers hands-on experience in community health systems, data organization, and applied research. Working with the Public Health Liaisons and HOPE Division, the intern will conduct interviews with coalition partners to document their activities, funding sources, staffing, and capacity to track outcomes.
The intern will use this information to expand the existing Coalition Landscape Matrix, creating a detailed view of coalition reach, strengths, and unmet needs. The final product will include a concise summary brief with recommendations and 2–3 related articles on coalition capacity or sustainability.
Deliverables:
• Develop and finalize coalition interview questions in collaboration with the Public Health Liaisons team.
• Conduct interviews to capture coalition capacity, activities, and data readiness.
• Expand and organize the Coalition Landscape Matrix using the interview findings.
• Short analytic brief (3–5 pages) with recommendations for coalition capacity and small-scale investments
• Applied Research Snapshot (2–3 short articles summarized with practical takeaways)
This hybrid internship is ideal for students interested in community health, coalition-building, or applied qualitative research. The results will directly inform County planning for opioid settlement spending and regional public health collaboration.
